Port Of Falmouth Jamaica
Port Of Falmouth Jamaica is a cultural tour; lasts 1 hour.
About
The Port of Falmouth sits on Jamaica's north coast in Falmouth, a Georgian-era town about 20 miles east of Montego Bay. This is where the cruise ships dock — one of the Caribbean's newer purpose-built terminals, opened in 2011 to handle the largest vessels afloat. The port itself is a commercial operation, so what you're actually experiencing is the adjacent shopping and entertainment complex designed for cruise passengers: duty-free shops, bars, a small water park, and a recreated colonial streetscape that bears little resemblance to actual Falmouth a short walk away. If you're coming off a ship, it's convenient and safe. If you're staying in Jamaica, there's no reason to visit the port itself. The real Falmouth — with its intact Georgian buildings and working town square — is a five-minute walk from the gates and far more interesting. The port is functional infrastructure, not a destination.
