About

Anchorage Jamaica Bed & Breakfast is a small property in Kingston's Gwendon Park neighborhood, and with three reviews all landing at five stars across rooms, sleep quality, value, service, location, and cleanliness, whoever's running it is clearly doing something right. Sample size is what it is, but perfect scores in both value and service suggest the kind of attention you get when a place has only a handful of rooms and the owners are around. Kingston isn't where most visitors land, which means you're here for a reason—business, family, or because you want to see the capital without the beach resort layer. This spot gives you a residential base with the kind of consistency that turns first-timers into repeat guests. If you need a quiet, well-kept room in Kingston and prefer a guesthouse over a chain hotel, this is the setup.

Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel

Terra Nova is a 35-room boutique hotel on Waterloo Road in uptown Kingston — far from the beach, close to Emancipation Park and New Kingston's business district. It pulls a 4.4 with strong marks for cleanliness (4.7) and service (4.5), which makes sense for an intimate property where staff aren't spread thin across hundreds of rooms. The vibe is quiet luxury: suites, manicured gardens, a pool that feels more like a courtyard retreat than a resort centerpiece. If you need beach access, they run a shuttle, but most guests are here for Kingston itself — galleries, live music, Red Stripe headquarters, Bob Marley Museum — not sand time. The $400-a-night rate puts it at the higher end for Kingston lodging, but you're paying for polish and proximity to the cultural core. Good for couples or solo travelers who want a calm base in the capital. Families can stay, but there's no kids' club or animation schedule — this isn't that kind of hotel.

Neita's Nest

Neita's Nest is a three-room guesthouse in Stony Hill, up in the hills above Kingston. It runs like a boutique hotel — the 4.9 service rating comes from staff who clearly remember your name — but the scale keeps it quiet. Rooms are solid (4.4), sleep quality slightly better (4.5), and cleanliness hits 4.8, which matters when you're sharing common spaces with just a handful of other guests. The location rating of 4.5 reflects what you're trading: peace and elevation for distance from the beach. Kingston sits on the protected south coast, and Neita's Nest offers a shuttle to get you there. Sargassum is rarely an issue in this part of the island. The $200 nightly rate is fair for a five-star-rated property this intimate, and the 4.6 value score suggests guests agree. If you want a base in Kingston that doesn't feel like a city hotel, this works.

S Hotel Kingston

S Hotel Kingston sits on St. Lucia Avenue in New Kingston, Jamaica's business district. It's built for work trips and short stays, not beach lounging — the 4.5-star property runs a shuttle to the coast, but most guests are here for meetings, not sand. The 4.8 service rating and 4.8 cleanliness score make sense given the boutique setup and 125 rooms; staff can actually remember faces. Rooms and sleep quality both score 4.7, which tracks for a modern urban hotel where noise control and bed quality matter more than ocean views. The 4.5 value rating is reasonable at around $400 a night in Kingston, where inventory tilts corporate. Location scores 4.7 because New Kingston puts you near offices, restaurants, and the financial corridor — walkability is decent for errands and dinner. This isn't an all-inclusive resort. It's a polished city hotel that works if your Jamaica trip includes Kingston for business or culture, and you'd rather sleep somewhere competent than chase a beach fantasy in the capital.

Usain Bolt's Tracks & Records

Usain Bolt's Tracks & Records is on Constant Spring Road in Kingston, and yes, it's exactly what it sounds like—track memorabilia on the walls, a menu built around comfort food, and a sports-bar energy that works whether you're watching a game or just here for wings. The space scores highest for atmosphere among the subratings, which tracks: it's loud, casual, and popular with families and groups looking for something easy. The food is a mix of Caribbean, American, and international plates—jerk, burgers, pasta—and it lands solidly in the mid-range both on price and execution. The 3.9 overall rating across 600-plus reviews suggests consistency more than innovation, and the value rating of 3.6 tells you not to expect bargains. Service is fine. If you want a lively spot in Kingston where kids are welcome and you don't need a reservation, it does the job.

Terra Nova Hotel Restaurant

Terra Nova Hotel Restaurant sits in the middle of Kingston on the grounds of a converted colonial mansion, and it's one of the few genuinely upscale dining rooms in the capital. The menu splits between international, European, and Caribbean cooking — the kitchen can handle Dover sole one night and jerk the next without losing the thread. That 4.5 atmosphere rating shows up in the setting: you eat either in the old house or outside on a candlelit terrace under giant trees. Fine dining in Kingston means you're paying for service and ambiance as much as food, and the 4.3 service score tracks with that. The 4.0 value rating is honest — this is the top price tier, and you know it walking in. Reservations aren't required, but the room fills up during peak hours and before flights out of Norman Manley. If you need a jacket-and-tablecloth meal in Kingston and don't want a hotel chain generic, this is the answer.

South Avenue Grill

South Avenue Grill is in Kingston, doing American and Caribbean plates in a casual setup that pulls families and regulars in equal measure. The 4.5 atmosphere rating is the standout — people like eating here, whether it's burgers or jerk chicken, and the space apparently holds up under kid traffic without losing the vibe. The food rating edges above the overall at 4.3, which tracks with a kitchen that doesn't overcomplicate things but nails the execution on straightforward menu staples. Mid-range pricing and a 4.0 value score means you're not getting gouged, but you're not hunting for the cheapest plate in town either. Service sits at 4.1, reliable enough that repeat visits make sense. It's the kind of spot where you can bring the family on a weeknight or meet a friend without needing a reservation. Walk in, order what sounds good, and the meal does what it's supposed to do.
