Blue Mountain Wilderness Retreat is a 5-star resort in Port Antonio with 100 rooms rated 5.0/5 by 3 TripAdvisor reviewers; typical rates from about $175 a night.

About

Blue Mountain Wilderness Retreat is tucked into Bangor Ridge in the Portland Parish hills, well above the coast. The 5-star rating comes from three reviews, so this is early signal, not mass consensus — but that's part of the appeal for guests who want genuine seclusion rather than a resort complex. The location puts you in Jamaica's cooler mountain interior, closer to coffee farms and forest than beach clubs. Expect a quieter pace. The wilderness branding is accurate; the property sits in ridge country where the main activity is hiking, birdwatching, or simply being off-grid for a few days. This isn't a place with nightly entertainment or concierge tours. The small review base means amenities and service standards won't be as documented as larger properties, so confirm specifics before booking if you need particular facilities. It works best for travelers who value isolation and terrain over convenience.

Great Huts Eco Resort

Great Huts sits on the edge of Boston Bay in Port Antonio, about as far east as most travelers venture. The property spreads across clifftop and beachfront, mixing treehouse-style huts with more conventional rooms — all leaning into the eco-resort concept with salvaged materials, open-air showers, and no TVs. The 4.8 rating and strong location score track; you're steps from Boston Beach (jerk central) and a short drive to waterfalls and Blue Lagoon. This isn't a scene resort. The vibe skews quiet, wellness-oriented, small groups or couples looking to disconnect. No casino, no swim-up bar, no kids' club. Beach access is direct but the coastline here gets seasonal sargassum May through October — typical for Portland's east-facing shore. Room count sits around 100, though the layout feels more intimate than that number suggests. If you want polished all-inclusive convenience, look elsewhere. If you're good with rustic-chic, mosquito nets, and a soundtrack of tree frogs, it works.

Goblin Hill Villas at San San

Goblin Hill Villas sits on a hillside above San San Bay in Port Antonio, a 28-villa property that feels more like borrowed real estate than a resort. The location rating is a 4.7 for good reason — it's a short shuttle ride to the beach and close enough to San San's calm bay that you avoid the open-coast sargassum that piles up elsewhere on the northeast shore. Each villa is a standalone unit with a kitchen, which explains the appeal: you're not trapped in the dining plan, and the vibe is quiet rather than programmed. Service scores higher than the rooms themselves, which is the telling detail. This is the kind of place where staff compensate for wear with attention. It's not polished like the north-coast resorts, but it's also not trying to be. Port Antonio moves slower, and Goblin Hill follows suit. If you want animation teams and swim-up bars, stay west. If you want a villa with a view and room to settle in, this works.

Polish Princess Guest House

Polish Princess Guest House sits just outside Port Antonio on a quiet hillside — beach access comes via shuttle, not a walk, which keeps the place low-key. The 4.8 rating across 161 reviews holds up in the details: service and cleanliness both score 4.9, and value comes in at 4.8, which is unusually high for a five-star property in the area. Rooms are comfortable rather than flashy, and the guest count stays small enough that staff know your name by day two. The setting is more intimate than resort-y — no casino, no kids' club, no swim-up bar. If you're looking for all-inclusive party energy, this isn't it. The eastern Caribbean exposure means seasonal sargassum can arrive May through October, and nearby beaches vary depending on their angle to the current. The nightly rate around $200 USD makes it accessible without feeling budget, and the walkability score of 4 means you'll want a car or driver for anything beyond the immediate property.
