Fun Holiday Beach Resort is an all-inclusive 3-star resort in Negril with 45 rooms rated 3.2/5 by 825 TripAdvisor reviewers; typical rates from about $280 a night; direct beach access.

About

Fun Holiday Beach Resort is on Norman Manley Boulevard in Negril, right where the long Seven Mile Beach stretch gets most of the foot traffic. The location rating—4.4 out of 5—is the standout here, and it makes sense if you want beach access without leaving the main strip. The overall 3.2 rating across 825 reviews suggests this is a functional option rather than a polished one, with rooms and sleep quality trailing behind service and cleanliness. This is a budget-to-mid-tier property where the trade-off is clear: you're paying for the beach position, not the room finish. Value scores slightly better than rooms, which tracks for travelers who spend their days outside and just need a decent bed at night. Service edges higher than the property average, so the staff seems to compensate where the infrastructure doesn't. If your Negril plan is beach, bars, and cliff-jumping down the road, and you're not particular about room upgrades, the location does most of the work.

What travelers are saying.

Steady

Low confidence

Travelers say Fun Holiday Beach Resort delivers an unbeatable location on Seven Mile Beach at a budget price, but you're paying strictly for sand access and basics—not polish. The beach section is consistently described as the best stretch on the strip, with soft sand and clear water steps from your room. Rooms are clean but dated, with frequent mentions of thin walls, inconsistent hot water (sometimes requiring cold tap activation first), and worn fixtures. Food is genuine Jamaican home-cooking when available, but portion control is tight—arrive early or miss staples like bacon or beer. The all-inclusive bar chronically runs dry (no rum for days, no ice until afternoon, draft beer only), and meal times drift unpredictably late. Staff earn universal praise for warmth and hustle despite scarce resources. This is a functional crash pad for beach devotees who spend daylight outside, not a place to linger indoors.

Standing out

Seven Mile Beach location with best sand section and direct room access in under 30 seconds
47 mentions
“Beach section is the softest white sand on the strip, water crystal-clear, and you walk from your door to a lounger in half a minute”
Staff compensate for infrastructure gaps with genuine warmth, remembering repeat guests' names and hustling to fix issues
38 mentions
“Staff greet you by name after one day, work doubles to restock the bar, and treat guests like family despite tight budgets”
Authentic Jamaican home-cooked food when served, especially fresh grilled fish and jerk chicken priced by the catch
22 mentions
“Chef grills fresh catch daily—lobster when available is excellent, jerk pork has real kick, and fried chicken rivals any local spot”
Clean rooms with daily housekeeping and working AC, adequate for travelers spending days on the beach
31 mentions
“Maid service is spotless every morning, AC cools reliably by nightfall, and linens are fresh even if furniture is dated”

Watch-outs

All-inclusive bar runs dry for days (no rum, beer, or ice until 4pm), forcing guests to buy supplies in town
42 mentions
“Bar had no vodka for two days, no draft beer for three, and ice didn't arrive until after 4pm most afternoons”
Meal portions insufficient for guest count—breakfast bacon gone by 20 minutes, arrive late and options vanish
28 mentions
“They cook 40 burgers for 80 guests, bacon runs out by 8:50am, and latecomers find only rice and cabbage”
Hot water intermittent or absent for days, activated only by turning cold faucet first or unavailable entirely
34 mentions
“No hot water for 13 of 14 days—had to turn the cold tap to trigger it, or resort to cold showers in the tropics”
Meal service runs 1–2 hours late unpredictably (breakfast at 9:30am instead of 8am, dinner at 9pm not 7pm)
26 mentions
“Breakfast posted for 8:30 but served at 9:15, lunch at 1:30 arrives at 3pm, missing pre-booked excursion pickups”

Tips from travelers

Reserve beach palapas before 7am in high season or pay beach staff to hold one
Bring your own beach towels—resort supply is limited and threadbare
Pack salt, pepper, condiments, and snacks—buffet has none and no snack service exists
Arrive at meal opening or risk missing proteins and bacon within 20 minutes

Maybe skip if: Skip this if you need reliable hot water, predictable meal times, a stocked bar past 4pm, or prefer not to hear your neighbors' conversations through thin walls—this is strictly for beach-first travelers who tolerate Cuban-motel infrastructure for prime sand access.

Beaches Negril

Beaches Negril sits right on Seven Mile Beach, west-facing and protected from Atlantic currents — the sargassum that piles up elsewhere mostly skips this stretch. It's all-inclusive and built for families: there's a water park on-site, a kids' club, and programming designed to keep children occupied while parents decompress. The 4.7 location rating reflects both the beach access and Negril's laid-back positioning — you're far enough from Montego Bay airport to feel removed, close enough to village dining if you want to leave the compound. Service scores highest in the subratings at 4.6, ahead of rooms and value, which tracks with the Beaches operational model — attentive staff compensates for facilities that can feel worn in spots. The room rating of 4.2 isn't poor, but it suggests you're paying for programming and convenience, not boutique finishes. If your trip hinges on keeping kids entertained near calm water, this place does what it promises. If you're traveling without children, look elsewhere.

Couples Swept Away

Couples Swept Away sits on Seven Mile Beach in Negril, and it's adults-only — which is part of the draw. The 4.7 location rating reflects what you're paying for: direct beach access on one of Jamaica's best stretches of sand, with calm water most of the year. The resort leans into the all-inclusive sports angle more than most — there's a full campus of tennis courts, fitness facilities, and water sports across the street from the main property, included in the rate. Service and cleanliness both hit 4.4, which is solid for a resort at this scale. Rooms are the softer spot at 4.1, so manage expectations on finishes and age, but sleep quality comes in at 4.3, which suggests the beds and noise levels work. Value sits at 4.2, fair for an adults-only beachfront property in Negril. If you're looking for an active, social vibe rather than a quiet hideaway, the setup makes sense.

Royalton Hideaway sits on Norman Manley Boulevard in Negril, midway down Seven Mile Beach, and it's strictly adults-only — no wristbands on toddlers, no poolside Marco Polo games. With just 100 rooms, the scale stays manageable, which helps explain the 4.5 rating on rooms and cleanliness and the 4.6 on location. You're on the leeward Caribbean side here, so sargassum is rarely an issue, and the beach access is direct. The property leans romantic and intimate rather than party-heavy, though the all-inclusive setup means you won't be nickel-and-dimed for lunch or a second rum punch. Service scores a 4.4, value a 4.2 — the nightly rate hovers around $550, so you're paying for the quieter vibe and the smaller footprint. Sleep quality matches the room score at 4.5, which matters if you're here to unplug rather than rally. If you want Negril's sunset strip without the family resort chaos, this is the play. Walkability is moderate; you can stroll the beach, but you'll cab or drive for most restaurants off-property.

Flag City

Flag City is a beachfront spot on Norman Manley Boulevard in Negril, right where you'd expect the tourist traps but somehow not one of them. The 4.8 overall with nearly 700 reviews is backed by straight 4.9s across food, service, and atmosphere — numbers that suggest consistency more than occasional luck. The kitchen runs Caribbean and seafood, which in Negril usually means jerk and whatever the boats brought in, and the mid-range pricing keeps it accessible without the plastic-menu feel. What stands out is that those subratings hold across the board. A 4.9 for value at a beachfront restaurant is rare; most places on this strip either lowball quality or stretch the bill. Flag City seems to thread that middle. It's kid-friendly if you're traveling with family, and no reservation means you can walk up when you're hungry. The vibe is beachfront casual — sand-adjacent, not fine-dining fussy.

Negril

Blue Mahoe Restaurant

Blue Mahoe sits right on the cliffs of West End Road in Negril, the kind of spot where you watch the sunset between courses. The atmosphere rating — 4.9 out of 5 — makes sense once you see the open-air setup and the water below. They do Caribbean and seafood, leaning into what's local and what works on a grill. The food rating matches the atmosphere at 4.7, and service comes in even higher at 4.8, which suggests the staff knows the menu and keeps things moving without hovering. It's mid-range pricing, and the value score of 4.5 means people feel like they got what they paid for. Kids are welcome, so it's not just a date-night place. No reservation required, but sunset tables fill up. If you're on the cliffs anyway, it's worth stopping in before the light goes.
