About

Evita's sits on a hillside above Ocho Rios, and the view over the harbor is half the reason people come back. The kitchen runs Italian dishes with some Caribbean crossover, which sounds like a tourist trap but isn't — the food rating sits at 4.4 across nearly a thousand reviews, and the atmosphere score is even higher. It's a mid-range spot that skews romantic at night but also handles families without issue during the day. The terrace seating is the move if it's available. Service is consistent enough to match the food, which matters when you're dealing with pasta and timing. Value holds at 4.2, so you're paying for the setting but not getting gouged. Reservations aren't required, but evenings can fill up, especially during high season. If you want something beyond jerk and patties without leaving Ocho Rios, this is the reliable answer.

Tours & things to do nearby

Travel Jamaica Tours

Travel Jamaica Tours runs group and private excursions out of Ocho Rios, and the 5-star rating across 617 reviews tells you they're doing something consistent. Most of the island's major attractions — Dunn's River Falls, Blue Hole, river tubing — are within striking distance from here, and they've built their operation around knowing the timing and crowds. The review volume puts them in regular rotation with cruise passengers and resort guests who want organized day trips without the guesswork. What separates them is execution on the basics: pickups happen when promised, guides know the routes, and the pace tends to work for mixed groups. They're not boutique — this is volume tourism done competently. If you're new to Jamaica or short on time, booking through an established operator with that kind of feedback density reduces friction. Just confirm your itinerary details up front; group tours move on a schedule.

Grand Jamaica and Dunns River Falls Tour

This seven-hour tour runs out of the Royal Caribbean port in Falmouth and hits two of Jamaica's northern tourist anchors: Dunn's River Falls and a loop through Ocho Rios or Montego Bay. The 4.4 rating across 625 reviews puts it in the solid middle tier — popular with cruise passengers who want the checklist done in one shot. You're climbing the falls in a human chain, which is half the experience and half the chaos, then moving on to a beach stop or market browsing depending on the package. The intensity is moderate; you'll get wet, you'll do some stepping, but it's built for the general cruise demographic. At $150, you're paying for coordination and a guide who keeps the group on schedule. If you're docked in Falmouth for the day and want Dunn's without the hassle of piecing it together yourself, this works. Just manage your expectations around group size and timing — these tours move like convoys, not road trips.

Sunshine Watersport & Tours

Sunshine Watersport & Tours operates along White River Road in Ocho Rios, running water-based activities in one of the area's calmer river zones. The 5-out-of-5 rating across 66 reviews puts it in rare company — most activity operators in Jamaica hover closer to 4.5, so the consistency here is notable. The outfit seems to lean on river tubing and kayaking rather than the more chaotic raft tours elsewhere in town, which likely explains the steady feedback. Most complaints about Ocho Rios water tours center on crowding and timing issues, but the review volume here is modest enough that you're probably not getting factory-line treatment. White River is slower and shallower than the cascades up in the hills, so if you're bringing kids or prefer something less aggressive, this is the better match. Cash tips for guides are expected and not optional.

Miss T's Kitchen

Miss T's Kitchen is on Main Street in Ocho Rios, a few blocks up from the cruise ship terminal. It pulls a mix of visitors and locals who know where the food scores a 4.5 — the standout subrating here — and the vibe stays Jamaican kitchen, not tourist performance. The menu runs traditional: jerk chicken, curry goat, oxtail, escovitch fish, callaloo. Portions are generous and the value rating at 4.2 means you're not overpaying for the location. The dining room has the casual atmosphere of a neighborhood spot that happened to end up on the main drag. Kids are welcome, no reservations needed. Lines can build mid-afternoon when ships are in, but turnover is steady. If you want to eat where the cooking is straightforward and the kitchen doesn't adjust for timid palates, this is the address.

Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville Ocho Rios

Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville sits on Turtle Beach Road in Ocho Rios, and you can tell from the parking lot what you're walking into. It's the franchise concept — American and Caribbean on the same menu, casual setup, families welcome. The atmosphere rating is the highest of the bunch at 4.1, which tracks; this is beach-club energy with a soundtrack and a bar that doesn't quit. The food sits at 3.8 and value at 3.4 across over 2,200 reviews, so you're paying mid-range for reliability, not discovery. Service comes in at 3.9, and the staff keeps the volume moving. If you're traveling with kids or you want a known quantity after a day at Dunn's River, it does the job. No reservation needed — walk in, order, done.

Juici-Beef Patties

Juici-Beef is a Jamaican fast-food chain, and this Ocho Rios location on Newlin Street does the thing it's supposed to do: hot beef patties, quickly, for less than you'd pay almost anywhere else. The 4.5 rating across 640 reviews isn't from ambiance—atmosphere scores a 3.0—it's because the value is undeniable and the patties are consistent. You order at the counter, grab a few to go, and keep moving. The menu runs beyond beef: chicken, vegetable, soy options, plus coco bread if you want to make it a proper sandwich. Most people are in and out, though there are a few tables if you need to sit. It's casual in the truest sense—fluorescent lights, laminate counters, paper napkins. Service scores lower than food or value, so expect efficiency over warmth. If you're looking for cheap, filling Jamaican staples in the middle of Ocho Rios, this works. Cash speeds things up.

Ocho Rios

Sandals Ochi

Sandals Ochi sits on the north coast in Ocho Rios, adults-only and all-inclusive, with direct beach access and that north-facing exposure that matters during sargassum season. The 4.5-star rating holds across 15,000+ reviews, with cleanliness and sleep quality both scoring above the property average—rooms and service both land at 4.3 and 4.4, which is solid but not exceptional for the Sandals tier. What sets it apart is the scale and the vibe calibration: 100 rooms keeps it from feeling like a convention center, and the party score sits at a 3 out of 5, meaning it leans romantic without tipping into spring-break energy. Nightly rates around $550 put it in the upper-middle range for Jamaica all-inclusives, and the value subrating at 4.2 suggests guests think that's roughly fair. One honest note: the sargassum exposure is moderate here, meaning May through October can bring some beachweed. The resort manages it, but if pristine sand matters more than anything else, check conditions before you book.

Ocho Rios

Moon Palace Jamaica

Moon Palace Jamaica is a 700-room all-inclusive in Ocho Rios with direct beach access and a 4.4 rating across nearly 8,000 reviews. The cleanliness score (4.5) runs a notch higher than rooms (4.2), which tells you something about upkeep standards at this scale. Families make up the core crowd — the property scores high on kid-friendliness and carries luxury and gourmet tags — though there's no dedicated kids' club, so don't expect the regimented programming some other mega-resorts offer. At 550 USD per night typical, you're paying for the oceanfront footprint and the variety that comes with size, not boutique charm. Service scores track with the overall rating, solid but not exceptional. The north-central coast sees moderate sargassum May through October; most resorts here manage daily removal. Walkability off-property is limited, which is standard for Ocho Rios all-inclusives. If you want big, family-capable, and beachfront without leaving the compound, it fits.

Ocho Rios

Sandals Royal Plantation

Sandals Royal Plantation sits on a bluff just east of downtown Ocho Rios, and it's the smallest in the Sandals chain — which makes the 4.8 service rating easier to understand. The setup is all suites, all butlers, all adults. The 4.8 sleep quality and cleanliness ratings are unusually high for a resort category that usually hovers closer to 4.5, and the rooms subrating backs it up at 4.6. The property runs formal — think dress code in the dining room, afternoon tea service — which is either the appeal or the dealbreaker depending on what kind of vacation you're after. Value comes in at 4.5, which is fair for an all-inclusive at this tier. Location rating of 4.7 reflects the bluff access to a small beach and proximity to Ocho Rios center without being in the thick of it. If you want the full Sandals experience but prefer smaller scale and more formality over waterpark energy, this one delivers on that trade.

Ocho Rios

Scotchie's

Scotchie's is a jerk institution on the Ocho Rios end of the north coast, and it's the real thing — open-air grills smoking all day, picnic tables under zinc roofs, no frills. The food rating is higher than the atmosphere rating because the point is the jerk chicken and pork, not the decor. They cook over pimento wood the traditional way, and the spice mix has enough bite that you'll remember it. It's cheap, it's crowded with locals and tourists who've been tipped off, and kids are everywhere because nobody's pretending this is a date spot. Lines can stretch during lunch, but they move. Service is straightforward — you order at the counter, they call your number, you sit where you can find space. Value is strong; portions are big enough that you'll have leftovers if you're not starving. Cash speeds things up. If you want jerk done the way it's supposed to be done, this is where you go.

Ocho Rios

Bamboo Blu

Bamboo Blu is on the sand in Mammee Bay, just east of Ocho Rios proper, next to the Riu. It's one of the higher-rated restaurants on the north coast, and the 4.8 atmosphere score explains a lot of that — you're eating barefoot with tables set up directly on the beach. The menu leans Caribbean and seafood, and while the food rating of 4.5 is solid, the setting is doing heavy lifting here. Service tends to be friendly and unhurried, which matches the vibe. Prices are mid-range, and the value score of 4.3 suggests most people think it's fair for what you get. It's kid-friendly, so families show up alongside couples. No reservations required, but peak times can mean a wait for a good table near the water. If you want a proper beach lunch or dinner without driving to Negril, this is a straightforward option.
