About

Stardoose Cafe is a small spot on West End Road in Negril where six reviews all landed on perfect scores — food, value, service, atmosphere. That's rare enough to notice. It's in the cheap eats range, which on the cliffs usually means jerk chicken or fish plates under ten bucks, and the value rating suggests they're not skimping on portions or quality to hit that price. The perfect food score with only six reviews means consistency matters here, or at least it has so far. Small sample, but when a place this inexpensive sweeps the subratings, it's usually because someone in the kitchen cares and the operation hasn't gotten sloppy. West End has plenty of tourist traps mixed in with the real ones, so a 5.0 across the board is a signal worth considering if you're looking to eat well without spending resort money.

Tours & things to do nearby

Joe Cool Taxi & Tours Jamaica

Joe Cool Taxi & Tours operates out of Negril, running airport transfers and day tours across the island. The 5-star rating across 1,300+ reviews is unusually consistent for a tour operator — most providers see more spread once volume climbs past a few hundred — which points to reliable execution on the basics: punctuality, vehicle condition, driver knowledge. Tours typically cover the standard northwest Jamaica circuit: Dunn's River Falls, Rick's Café cliff diving, Seven Mile Beach stops, sometimes rum distilleries or jerk centers inland depending on the route. The airport shuttle from Montego Bay to Negril runs about 90 minutes and handles the bulk of their business. What separates higher-rated drivers here is route commentary that goes past the script — local context on roadside vendors, which jerk stands the drivers actually use, where to change money without getting fleeced. If you're booking directly, confirm vehicle type and whether the rate includes tolls and wait time. Most day tours bundle admission fees, but ask.

Any Likkle Ting U Need

Any Likkle Ting U Need runs a four-hour boat trip out of Negril that's become something of a staple along Norman Manley Boulevard. The 5-star rating across 366 reviews is rare for water activities on this stretch, and it tracks — this is a low-intensity outing that doesn't try to pack in too much. You're on the water, you stop for snorkeling, you stop for a beach, and the crew keeps the mood loose without turning it into a floating party bus. The $75 price point sits right in the middle for Negril boat trips, and the duration gives you enough time without losing half your day. It's open to all ages, which means families show up alongside couples, and the vibe adjusts accordingly. Booking is direct, so you skip the middle layers and deal straight with the operation. If you want a straightforward morning on the water without manufactured highs, this one delivers what it says.

Captain Jace Allen Glass Bottom Boat Tours Negril

Captain Jace Allen runs glass-bottom boat tours off Seven Mile Beach in Negril, and the 5-out-of-5 rating across 348 reviews suggests he's doing something right. The two-hour trips are low-intensity — you sit in the boat while the glass floor shows you reef fish and coral without getting wet — so it works for families with small kids or anyone who'd rather skip the snorkel gear. The $50 price point is standard for Negril boat tours, but consistency matters more than cost when you're trusting someone with a couple of hours on the water. The format is straightforward: Captain Jace motors you out to the reef zones, points out what you're seeing through the floor panels, and keeps the commentary running. It's not a marine biology lecture, but it's also not just a lazy drift. Book direct if you can — fewer middlemen usually means better communication about timing and weather calls.

Fireman's Lobster Pit

Fireman's Lobster Pit is on Boobie Cay, a tiny island just off Negril's main beach that you reach by boat. The setup is beachfront picnic tables and sand floors, and the menu is straightforward: lobster, fish, chicken, all grilled over open flame. The 4.8 food rating backs up what locals already know — this is some of the better seafood in Negril, priced mid-range instead of resort-tier. Most people order the lobster or whole snapper, which arrive charred and simple. The value rating of 4.4 reflects fair portions for what you pay, especially given the boat ride is part of the experience. Service is relaxed but functional; expect island time, not white gloves. Families bring kids without issue — there's plenty of shallow water and space to wander between courses. The boat captains who ferry people out usually work on tips and wait to take you back. Go midday to avoid the rush, or late afternoon if you want the sunset angle. Cash speeds things up.

Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville Negril

Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville sits right on Norman Manley Boulevard in Negril, beachfront and impossible to miss. It's the chain version of island casual — American and Caribbean menu, frozen drinks, live music some nights, and a water trampoline out front that kids treat like a magnet. The atmosphere rating is the highest of the bunch at 3.9, which tracks; people come for the scene more than the food. The food score is 3.5 and value lands at 3.0, so you're paying mid-range prices for reliably okay plates. It works if you want a known quantity or you're traveling with kids who need chicken fingers and a place to burn energy. Over 3,300 reviews puts it in heavy rotation for tourists walking the strip. No reservation needed — walk in, grab a table, order a cheeseburger in paradise if that's your thing. It's not subtle, but it doesn't try to be.

Miss Lily's

Miss Lily's is on Norman Manley Boulevard at the Skylark Resort in Negril, right on the beach. The 4.8 food rating comes from Caribbean and Jamaican plates done carefully — not reinvented, just consistent — and the atmosphere rating matches because you're eating with your feet practically in the sand. The service holds a 4.7 across nearly 500 reviews, which for a beachfront spot is unusual; most places this close to the water get sloppy by dinner service. Mid-range pricing with a 4.6 value score means you're not overpaying for the location. It's kid-friendly, so families show up early; couples tend to arrive closer to sunset. No reservation system, so peak times mean a wait — but the bar is open and the view doesn't get worse while you stand there. If you want Jamaican food in Negril without the jerk shack chaos or the hotel dining room formality, this is the middle lane.

Sandals Negril

Sandals Negril stretches along Norman Manley Boulevard on Seven Mile Beach, which puts you on some of the best sand in Jamaica without the crowds you'll find farther south. It's a couples-only resort, standard for the Sandals line, and the 4.6 for both service and location show up in practice—staff remember your name, and you can walk straight from your room to that translucent water everyone posts about. Rooms clock in slightly lower at 4.3, which usually means older fixtures in some buildings rather than anything broken. The 4.2 value rating is fair for all-inclusive; you're paying for convenience and beach access more than cutting-edge design. Nearly 12,000 reviews keep the 4.5 overall honest—it's not trying to be boutique, just consistent and beachfront. If you want walkable beach bars and the Negril vibe without leaving the property every night, the location works. If you're here for the water and don't need much else, it delivers.

Negril

Beaches Negril

Beaches Negril sits right on Seven Mile Beach, west-facing and protected from Atlantic currents — the sargassum that piles up elsewhere mostly skips this stretch. It's all-inclusive and built for families: there's a water park on-site, a kids' club, and programming designed to keep children occupied while parents decompress. The 4.7 location rating reflects both the beach access and Negril's laid-back positioning — you're far enough from Montego Bay airport to feel removed, close enough to village dining if you want to leave the compound. Service scores highest in the subratings at 4.6, ahead of rooms and value, which tracks with the Beaches operational model — attentive staff compensates for facilities that can feel worn in spots. The room rating of 4.2 isn't poor, but it suggests you're paying for programming and convenience, not boutique finishes. If your trip hinges on keeping kids entertained near calm water, this place does what it promises. If you're traveling without children, look elsewhere.

Negril

Couples Swept Away

Couples Swept Away sits on Seven Mile Beach in Negril, and it's adults-only — which is part of the draw. The 4.7 location rating reflects what you're paying for: direct beach access on one of Jamaica's best stretches of sand, with calm water most of the year. The resort leans into the all-inclusive sports angle more than most — there's a full campus of tennis courts, fitness facilities, and water sports across the street from the main property, included in the rate. Service and cleanliness both hit 4.4, which is solid for a resort at this scale. Rooms are the softer spot at 4.1, so manage expectations on finishes and age, but sleep quality comes in at 4.3, which suggests the beds and noise levels work. Value sits at 4.2, fair for an adults-only beachfront property in Negril. If you're looking for an active, social vibe rather than a quiet hideaway, the setup makes sense.

Ivan's Bar and Restaurant

Ivan's sits on the cliffs at the west end of Negril, inside the Catcha Falling Star Hotel, and the 4.9 atmosphere rating tells you what you're paying for: tables perched over the water where you watch cliff divers between courses. The Caribbean and seafood menu leans straightforward—grilled lobster, jerk chicken, catch of the day—and the 4.6 food score with over 2,600 reviews suggests they're doing it consistently enough that repeat visitors keep showing up. Service moves at the same pace, also a 4.6, which matters when you're juggling sunset timing and a moderately busy dining room. It's kid-friendly, mid-range pricing, and the value score of 4.3 is fair given the location—you're not just paying for the plate. Walk-ins work most nights, but if you want a cliff-edge table at golden hour, calling ahead makes sense. The dive show runs afternoons into early evening, and yes, it's exactly what it sounds like.

Negril

Rockhouse Restaurant

Rockhouse Restaurant sits on the cliffs in Negril's West End, part of the Rockhouse Hotel property. You're eating over the water — literally, tables are scattered around terraced platforms carved into the volcanic rock, with the Caribbean about thirty feet below. The 4.8 atmosphere subrating tracks. The kitchen does Caribbean seafood and international plates, mid-range pricing, and the food and service both hit 4.5 across nearly 2,000 reviews. That's consistent execution in a category where drama usually shows up in the scores. The value subrating at 4.2 suggests you're paying something for the setting, but not offensively. It's upscale-leaning but not stuffy — more sunset-and-sandals than resort formal. Not particularly kid-friendly by design. Reservations aren't required, but the cliff seating fills up fast around golden hour, so walking in at 6 p.m. might mean waiting or settling for an interior table.
