About

Tokyo Jo's is the teppanyaki spot inside Sandals Montego Bay, which means you're here for the show as much as the food. Chefs work the flat-top at your table, flipping shrimp and stacking onion volcanoes while you sit elbow-to-elbow with other resort guests. The atmosphere rating is perfect for a reason — it's loud, theatrical, and everyone's half a bottle of wine in by the time the knives start flying. The food and value subratings both sit at 4.6, which is high for resort dining. You're not getting revelatory Japanese cuisine, but the portions are generous, the steak comes out tender, and since it's all-inclusive, you're not watching the bill climb. Service keeps pace even when the room is packed. It's a solid pick if you're staying on property and want something more involved than the buffet. Just know you're trading intimacy for entertainment — this is dinner as a group activity.

Tours & things to do nearby

Liberty Tours Jamaica - Day Tours

Liberty Tours Jamaica runs day trips out of Montego Bay, and with 1,778 reviews holding a perfect 5/5, they've clearly figured out the formula. They handle the standard circuit—Dunn's River Falls, YS Falls, rafting on the Martha Brae—but the rating suggests they're doing it without the cattle-car feel that drags down most tour operators. That kind of consistency across nearly two thousand reviews usually means punctual pickups, guides who know when to talk and when to shut up, and vehicles that don't break down halfway to Ocho Rios. Most of their routes pull from the north coast highlights, so expect full-day commitments. If you're staying in Montego Bay and want someone else to handle the driving and timing, this is the kind of operator that won't cost you half the day waiting in a hotel lobby. Book direct if you can—it's easier to sort out pickup details that way.

Ultimate Excursions Tours & Taxi Service

Ultimate Excursions Tours & Taxi Service operates out of Montego Bay and has built a 5-star reputation across 780 reviews, which is unusual consistency in the local tour operator space. The perfect rating suggests they're doing more than moving people between points — likely hitting timing, communication, and vehicle condition all at once. They handle both tours and taxi runs, which means flexibility: you can book a structured excursion or just reliable airport transfer without the guesswork. The review volume indicates steady business, not a flash-in-the-pan operation that's great until it scales. That matters when you're coordinating pickup times or trusting someone with your group's day. If you need transport sorted without drama — whether it's a Dunn's River run or just getting from Sangster to your hotel without haggling — this is a safe call. The rating holds across nearly 800 transactions, which is the point.

PPP Tran Tours Jamaica

PPP Tran Tours Jamaica runs private transfers and day trips out of Montego Bay, and the 5-out-of-5 rating across 680 reviews suggests they've figured out the balance between punctuality and flexibility that most visitors care about. The volume of feedback points to steady repeat business and referrals — not typical for a pure transport service unless the drivers know the routes and the clients feel like they're in competent hands. The operation handles airport pickups, hotel transfers, and custom excursions across the north coast. It's a private-vehicle setup, so you're not waiting on a coach full of strangers, and drivers tend to double as informal guides if you ask questions. Pricing sits in the mid-range for private operators in the area, and advance booking through their direct channels usually locks in better rates than last-minute hotel concierge arrangements.

Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville Montego Bay

Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville sits on the Hip Strip in Montego Bay, the stretch of Jimmy Cliff Boulevard where the cruise port empties out. It's a franchise outpost—tropical Americana with a water slide off the back deck and enough TVs for game day. The atmosphere rating (4.0) is the only subrating that breaks away from the pack, which tells you what you're paying for: the scene, not the kitchen. The food scores 3.7, value comes in at 3.1, and with nearly 4,000 reviews, those numbers are stable. Mid-range pricing puts most plates in the neighborhood of what you'd pay at a comparable chain stateside. Service holds steady at 3.8, so expect competent but high-volume coverage—this is a tourist machine, not a quiet tasting room. If you want a cheeseburger in paradise with a blender drink and a known quantity, it delivers exactly that. Just know you're trading discovery for consistency.

The Pelican Grill

The Pelican Grill sits on Gloucester Avenue in Montego Bay, across from the old hospital park, which puts it right in the strip but not quite on the sand. It's a mid-range spot that pulls 872 reviews at 4.1 — not flashy numbers, but the food and service both land at 4.2, which is what matters when you're choosing dinner. The value rating at 3.8 suggests you're paying for the location and consistency more than you're getting a steal, but that tracks for this part of town. The atmosphere scores lower at 3.9, so this isn't the place you go for scene or romance. It's more about reliable cooking and decent portions in a tourist zone where both can be hard to find. If you want something dependable without wandering too far from the main drag, it works.

Scotchies

Scotchies is a jerk shack on the Falmouth Road just outside Montego Bay, and it's where locals send visitors who ask where to eat jerk chicken. The setup is open-air tables under a covered pavilion, smoke drifting over from the oil-drum pits where they cook pork and chicken over pimento wood. The 4.5 food rating across nearly 4,000 reviews tracks with what you get: charred, smoky meat that's actually spiced right, not just hot. They also do festival, breadfruit, and yam on the side. It's cheap — the price level reflects that — and the value rating bears it out. Service is straightforward: you order at the counter, they call your number, you sit. The atmosphere is what it is: picnic benches, ceiling fans, reggae on the speaker, and a lot of people who drove out of their way to eat here. It's not polished, but that's not the appeal.

Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort & Private Island

Sandals Royal Caribbean sits on its own stretch of Montego Bay's north coast, adults-only and centered around access to a small private island you reach by boat. The 4.6 service rating and 4.5 sleep quality scores reflect the smaller scale — around 100 rooms, so staff know faces and the island ferry runs on a guest-driven rhythm rather than a fixed shuttle grind. The protected bay location keeps sargassum off the beach, which matters more than the brochures let on. The private island is the differentiator here. It's not huge, but it's yours for the day: Thai restaurant over the water, hammocks, a quiet bar. The main resort side leans British colonial in the public spaces, which plays better in person than it sounds on paper. All-inclusive pricing starts around $550 per night, middle of the Sandals range. If you want the brand but prefer a smaller property where the private island actually feels private, this one works.

Montego Bay

Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay

Sandals Montego Bay sits on Kent Avenue, right on the bay where the Sandals brand started. It's the original, which means it feels more intimate than the newer mega-resorts down the coast — smaller footprint, lower buildings, a layout that doesn't require a golf cart. The 4.4 rating across nine thousand reviews holds steady on the fundamentals: sleep quality and service both land at 4.5, and cleanliness matches that. Rooms score a 4.3, which is honest — this isn't the newest property in the chain, but it's where couples come when they want the all-inclusive formula without the sprawl. The location rating of 4.4 reflects the tradeoff. You're in Montego Bay proper, not on a remote beach, so you get easy access to the Hip Strip and the airport. The bay water is calmer and darker than what you'll find in Negril. If you want the Sandals experience and prefer walkable proximity to town over postcard isolation, this is the one.

Montego Bay

Hotel Riu Palace Jamaica - Adults Only - All Inclusive

Hotel Riu Palace Jamaica sits on Mahoe Bay in the Rose Hall area of Montego Bay, and it's strictly adults-only—no exceptions. The 4.8 service rating stands out even in a segment where attentiveness is standard, and the 4.8 cleanliness score backs it up. This is a smaller property by all-inclusive resort standards, just 100 rooms, which keeps things quieter and easier to navigate. Direct beach access means you're on protected waters with minimal seaweed trouble, a real advantage on this part of the north coast. The price point hovers around $400 per night, which puts it above mid-tier but not in ultra-luxury territory. What you're paying for is consistency: strong sleep quality ratings, good room condition, and staff who don't vanish when you need something. The party score is moderate—there's evening entertainment, but this isn't where the spring break crowd lands. If you want an adults-only stay without the chaos and you value execution over novelty, this delivers.

Butch's Steak & Seafood

Butch's sits inside Sandals Montego Bay on Kent Avenue, so you're booking through the resort unless you're already staying there. The 5.0 atmosphere score tracks—it's the kind of steakhouse setup that feels more serious than the buffet alternatives, with tableside service that explains the 4.7 for staff attention. The food lands at 4.1, which is solid for a resort dining room where you're not paying out of pocket per plate if you're all-inclusive. The value rating of 4.3 is higher than the food itself, which makes sense in that context—guests treat it as a win within the package. If you're staying at Sandals and want a break from the other restaurants on property, this is the move for steak or lobster without leaving the grounds. Reservations fill up early in high season, so don't wait until the afternoon to book your evening slot.

Montego Bay

Soy Sushi Bar

Soy Sushi Bar is tucked inside Sandals Montego Bay on Kent Avenue, and it's the kind of detail that makes all-inclusive skeptics rethink their position. The 4.8 rating across seventeen reviews is rare enough, but perfect 5.0 scores for food, value, service, and atmosphere suggest something closer to serious sushi than resort filler. At most Caribbean all-inclusives, sushi means sticky rice and imitation crab. Here, the kitchen seems to understand that fish quality and rice temperature actually matter. The value score makes sense in context—you're already paying for the resort, so each plate effectively costs nothing, but the execution suggests they didn't treat it that way. It's a specialty restaurant within the Sandals complex, so you'll need a reservation and you'll be eating alongside other guests. The atmosphere rating implies they've managed to create something that feels separate from the poolside chaos, which is harder than it sounds.
